Plenty of options for Halloween evening

Halloween is Friday, so it's not too early to start making alternative plans to trick-or-treating.

Here are some options:

* West Side Baptist Church is throwing a free Harvest Party from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church, 6901 Summitview Ave.

Children ages 2 to 10 are invited. "Child-friendly" costumes are welcome. The party features carnival games, food and candy. For more information, call the church at 965-2800.

* West Valley Church of the Nazarene is hosting a free Fall Carnival from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church, 7109 W. Nob Hill Blvd.

Families are invited to enjoy dinner, games, prizes and candy. For more information, call the church at 966-1550.

* Bethlehem Lutheran Church is having a Harvest Celebration, beginning at 11 a.m. Thursday. The party takes place in the church social hall, 801 Tieton Drive. Everyone's invited to join in for bingo, cards, singing, food and entertainment.

Friday night, the church is holding its annual "Trunk & Treat" event. Free gifts and goodies will be given to participants. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. in the church parking lot. Call 457-5822.

* Churches in Zillah are hosting a couple of activities Friday night.

The Zillah Nazarene Church is hosting a "Trunk or Treat" event from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The trunk-or-treating takes place in downtown Zillah on First Avenue.

It will be followed by a Harvest Party at the Zillah Civic Center, 119 First Ave. The carnival features free games and candy. For more information, call First Baptist Church at 829-6853, Donna Oldfather at 829-6854, or Zillah Nazarene Church at 829-5338.

* Sunnyside Christian Reformed Church is holding its annual Harvest Fair Friday night.

The event takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sunnyside Christian School's elementary gym, 811 North Ave. in Sunnyside. The fair features games, a cake walk, face-painting, a costume contest and a pre-carved pumpkin contest.

Proceeds from ticket sales will provide families in need in the Yakima Valley with Christmas gift packages. Tickets are four for $1.

Hot dogs and nachos will also be available for purchase from the Sunnyside Christian School juniors. Proceeds from food sales will go toward the juniors' class trip to Washington, D.C.

* Yakima's Wesley United Methodist Church is having a "Trunk or Treat" Friday night.

Parents and kids are invited to go from car to car in the church parking lot from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Types of treats include small toys, crackers, fruit snacks and candy. There will also be hot coffee for the adults, hot cider for the kids, and free popcorn for everyone.

The church is at 14 N. 48th Ave. Call 966-2370.

* The Tieton Worship Center is hosting a Halloween "Pit Stop" from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Free coffee, cocoa, and home-baked goodies will be served. Candy bags will also be given. And restrooms will be available for little ones who just can't wait until they get home.

The church is at 813 Tieton St. in Tieton, just off the city square. All ages are welcome.

* Yakima's Stone Church is offering a kids' carnival from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.

The event features candy, hot dogs, laser tag, inflatables, and the chance to win a Nintendo Wii. It's $3 per child. Parents get in free.
