Hyndman -- 65 Years

George and Edith Hyndman of Redmond, Wash., formerly of Yakima, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary Aug. 14 with a renewal of vows ceremony and reception at Trilogy, Redmond. The event was hosted by their children.

George Hyndman and Edith Ellis were married Aug. 14, 1943, in Oak Knoll Navel Chapel in Oakland, Calif. The couple lived in the Yakima area 37 years.

Mr. Hyndman served as a medical corpsman with the Navy during World War II and is a retired farmer and carpenter. Mrs. Hyndman is a retired nurse.

The couple has four children, Nancy Schweitzer and Peggy Reasy, both of Sammamish, Wash., George Hyndman of Bothell, Wash., and Gary Hyndman of Yakima. They also have 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

 

Gilligan -- 65 Years

Michael L. and Stella Vay Gilligan of Yakima will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary at a later date with their family. A surprise party was hosted for them by the nurses and staff at Landmark Care Center Rehabilitation.

1st Lt. Michael L. Gilligan and Stella Vay Israel were married Sept. 22, 1943, in Lake Charles, La., during World War II. They have lived in Yakima for 48 years.

Mr. Gilligan retired after 40 years with the Washington State Department of Transportation. Mrs. Gilligan retired from Public Utility District No. 1.

The couple has four children, Shannon Gilligan-Seiler of Kirkland, Wash., Maureen Gilligan and Kathleen Gilligan-Coleman, both of Spokane, and Kevin C. Gilligan of Charleston, S.C. They also have six grandchildren.

 

Greene -- 50 Years

Doug and Jeanne Greene of Yakima celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a trip to Cannon Beach, Ore., and a family gathering in Yakima, hosted by their daughters.

Douglas Charles Greene and Jeanne Benton Polston were married Sept. 7, 1958, in Conway, S.C. They have lived in Yakima since 2004.

Mr. Greene served in the Air Force for 20 years, retiring as a lieutenant colonel. He also worked as a director of facilities until 1995. Mrs. Greene worked as a human resource executive, most recently for Washington State University Vancouver, retiring in 2004.

The couple has two daughters, Elizabeth Fitzgerald of Yakima and Meg Wilson of Ridgefeld, Wash. They also have six grandchildren.

 

Senters -- 50 Years

Garry and Dixie Senters of Clifton, Kan., formerly of Yakima, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary
Oct. 5.

Garry Senters and Dixie Newell were married Oct. 5, 1958, in Clifton. They lived in the Yakima area 35 years.

Mr. Senters retired as a carpenter form the Local Union 770 of Yakima. Mrs. Senters is a homemaker and works part time at Kisby's Convenience Store.

The couple has two children, Rodney Senter and Kelvin Senters, both of Yakima. They also have one granddaughter, three stepgrandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

 

Calahan -- 60 Years

Cleve "Bud" and Helen Calahan celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner at Anthony's and a celebration hosted by their children at a daughter's home in Richland.

Cleve Calahan and Helen Treise were married Sept. 16, 1948, in Wapato. They lived in Wapato, Sunnyside and the Granger area for several years and in Yakima for 17 years.

Mr. Calahan worked for U & I Sugar Co. as a lab technician until its closing. Mrs. Calahan worked for several banks in the Lower Valley and is also a homemaker. They also farmed for many years.

The couple has five children, Diana Johnson and Kelly Porter, both of Kennewick, Rita Bolcher of Richland, Candice Woodie of Yakima and Scott Calahan of Ellensburg. They also have nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

 

Cramer -- 45 Years

Brian and Sandy Cramer of Yakima are celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary with a week of camping in their RV.

Brian Cramer and Sandy Donaldson were married Sept. 21, 1963, at the West Valley Church of the Nazarene. Mr. Cramer has lived in the area 51 years and Mrs. Cramer is a lifelong resident.

Mr. Cramer retired from Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Cramer will retire in December, after 28 years, as a seamstress at Memorial Hospital.

The couple has three children, Brad Cramer and Becky Cramer, both of Yakima, and Elizabeth Jarvis of Moxee. They also have three grandchildren.

 

Larson -- 40 Years

Dick and Beverly Larson of Yakima celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary with a dinner at their nephew's home in Spokane with family and friends.

Dick Larson and Beverly Stolp were married Aug, 25, 1968, at Central Lutheran Church in Yakima. They have lived all their married life in Yakima.

They owned and operated Highland Pharmacy in Cowiche for 27 years.

 

Eglet -- 50 Years

Tony and Shirley Eglet of Zillah celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 21 with a family brunch. The event was hosted by their children.

Tony Eglet and Shirley Dorn were married Sept. 19, 1958, at the Methodist Church in Toppenish. They have lived in the area 50 years.

Mr. Eglet retired from the agriculture-chemistry industry. Mrs. Eglet retired from banking.

The couple has four children, Michele Robertson of Zillah, Bryan Eglet and Judy Doan, both of Yakima, and Denise Gunvaldson of Selah. They also have nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

 

Roy -- 40 Years

Tom and Peggy Roy of Yakima celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Sept. 21 during a dinner with family and friends at the couple's home. The event was hosted by their children. They also celebrated with a week in August at Seaside Ore., with their children and grandchildren.

Tom Roy and Peggy Patnode were married Sept. 21, 1968, at St. Paul Cathedral. They are lifelong area residents.

Mr. Roy is a residential builder. Mrs. Roy is chief finance officer for the Diocese of Yakima.

The couple has three children, Chris Roy of San Francisco, and Tim Roy and Dana Johnson, both of Yakima. They also have three grandsons.

 

Rossow -- 50 Years

Jerry and Shirley Rossow of Ellensburg will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner and a trip to the Oregon coast. The event will be hosted by their children.

Jerry Rossow and Shirley Milosevich were married Oct. 11, 1958, at St. James Cathedral in Seattle. They have lived in the Ellensburg area 38 years.

Mr. and Mrs. Rossow owned and operated Rossow's Campus U-Totem.

The couple has four children, Vicki Elkins and Dave Rossow, both of Yakima, Dan Rossow of Ellensburg and Mike Rossow of Redmond, Wash. They also have eight grandchildren.

 

Thomas -- 25 Years

Jim and Ana Thomas of rural Wapato celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary Aug. 9 with a reception at the Ashue Grange in Wapato. The event was hosted by their sons and family.

Jim Thomas and Ana Mendez were married Aug. 24, 1983, in Las Vegas, Nev. They are lifelong area residents.

Mr. Thomas is employed with Northwest Handling Systems Inc. Mrs. Thomas is employed with the Wapato School District.

The couple has two children, Logan Thomas and Chance Thomas, both of Wapato.
