YAKIMA -- Saturday's CWAC girls soccer showdown lived up to the billing -- and then some.
Unable to settle things in regulation, Selah and East Valley needed not just overtime but a shootout to finally determine a winner.
Even then, it took a perfect shootout effort from Selah in order for the Vikings to prevail, 3-2 over the Red Devils at East Valley High.
North Division-leading Selah improved to 6-1, while handing the South Division leaders their first loss, dropping the Red Devils to 6-1 as well.
Selah got shootout goals from Monik Martinez, Amber Gooch, Lauren Zeutenhorst, Abby Johnson and Jess Martin to win 5-4.
The visitors had grabbed a 2-1 halftime lead on goals by Johnson and Martinez, the latter in the 35th minute.
But East Valley, which got a first-half goal from Adriana Jones, tied the match on Yasmin Mohsenian's goal in the 66th minute.
Neither team scored in the overtime.
Audrey Hyatt had three saves in regulation and overtime, and then one more big one in the shootout for Selah.

PROSSER 2, OTHELLO 1 (SO): At Othello, Haley Saam, Alex Forsyth and Karly Crawford scored Prosser's shootout goals as the Mustangs (5-1 league) moved within a half game for South Division leader East Valley.
Helen Peterson scored in regulation for Prosser, but Othello tied the game with nine minutes left in regulation on a goal by Lindsay Garza.
